What’s Your Golf Fitness Handicap? | Swing Fit Performance Lab

What's Your Golf Fitness Handicap?

Most golfers know their handicap — but almost none know their Golf Fitness Handicap.

Here’s a stat that surprises nearly everyone I test:
90% of golfers score worse on their physical screen than their actual handicap.

So, if you play off a 10, your body might be performing like a 22.
That’s not a bad thing — it’s actually great news.
Because it means there’s untapped performance sitting right there in your body.

What Is a Golf Fitness Handicap?

Your golf fitness handicap is the difference between your golf skill and your body’s ability to support that skill.

It’s measured using the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) screen, which assesses:

  • Mobility: How well your joints move through their full range.

  • Stability: Your ability to control those movements.

  • Balance & Coordination: How your body sequences the swing.

  • Strength & Power: How efficiently you can generate and transfer force.

When your body can’t rotate, stabilise, or sequence properly, your swing compensates — and those compensations cost you distance, control, and consistency.

Why It Matters

You might spend hours working on your technique, but if your body can’t get into the positions your coach is asking for, you’ll always hit a ceiling.

Here’s what happens when we close the gap between your golf and fitness handicaps:
✅ Improved clubhead speed and distance
✅ Better consistency and shot control
✅ Less fatigue and pain over 18 holes
✅ Fewer injuries and longer playing life

The Mindset Shift

This isn’t about training harder — it’s about training smarter.
Your fitness handicap doesn’t judge your ability; it reveals opportunity to improve - which in my humble opinion is super cool.

Every golfer has physical limitations, but once you know what they are, you can actually fix them.
That’s when your golf game — and confidence — takes off.
